In 1824 Fawkner built the Cornwall Hotel at the cost of 2500£. For further details see the "Australian dictionary of biography" 1788-1850, Vol. 1 p. 368. A bill totalling £2.35 d. drawn up and signed by John Fawkner for a Mr Leake who stayed in the Cornwall Hotel.
